Teaching and Learning Committee (Spring Term 2017)

The Teaching and Learning Committee met in January and reviewed the progress of the new marking, homework and Teaching and Learning policies in school. Staff and parents are pleased with the progress of these, governors saw homework examples. We also looked at books to see if the marking policy was being used as intended and it generally was. We could see where this helped to move children's learning forward as they responded to progress points teachers had written.
We also reviewed how school establish whether the curriculum is adequately accessible for all children with additional learning needs, hearing feedback from Miss Crawford on how she and the SENCO Miss Ross review the progress of each of these children individually every half term and agree next steps.
Mrs Molloy reported on Early Years and reflected on the huge progress they have made in the last year. We also reviewed the curriculum reports from all the subject areas and were impressed by the clear objectives and targets in them all.

In our March meeting we looked at how school has been consulting parents on Reports, how the new Assessment policy is working and at the developments in the curriculum offer for our SEND pupils. We are planning a learning walk to look at this in action in school in the summer term.
