Visions and Values

A Church School for the Whole Community

As a church school, an inclusive and distinctive Christian vision is fundamental to all that we do.

Vision Statement

"At St Matthew's C of E (A) Primary School, we celebrate being part of God's diverse family.  Through upholding Christian values, we nurture, guide and foster confidence in all of our pupils to succeed, by empowering them to flourish in an ever-changing world.  We strive to develop inquisitive lifelong learners with resilience, creativity and kindness towards each other."

“Let your light shine before others” Matthew 5:16

What do we stand for?

We believe that every child has the potential to learn and develop, when nurtured with love and understanding. We promote the values of respect, equality, honesty and forgiveness and we strive for excellence in everything we do.

What do we do?

We create a welcoming and caring environment where each child is given opportunities to explore, question, reflect and learn. Through modelling Christian values, such as justice and compassion, we equip children for the future. Supporting them on this learning journey enables them to become independent, resourceful and unique members of the community.

Why do we do it?

We strive to make a difference to the life of each child by giving them the life skills needed to contribute to a diverse and changing society.

By celebrating the diversity within the school community and having a ‘whole child’ focus, we want to develop each child academically, creatively and spiritually so that they become confident and positive individuals.
