Sports Premium

At St. Matthew’s, we believe that physical education (PE) and active lifestyles play a vital role in every child’s development. We use the PE & Sports Premium funding to broaden opportunities, improve wellbeing, and promote lifelong fitness habits for all pupils.

What is the PE & Sports Premium?

The PE & Sports Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE, sport and physical activity provision.

At St. Matthew’s, we use it to:

Improve the quality of teaching in PE lessons
Increase participation in physical activity
Build confidence, coordination and teamwork
Provide access to sports opportunities for all pupils
Foster a love of sport, movement and competition
