Intent statement for History:
We can be Historians.
At St Matthew’s Primary School, history is taught to help children develop a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. We believe that children need opportunities both in and outside school, to see how their own lives today has been influenced by past events. As a result, our history teaching allows children to place their growing historical knowledge into different contexts and understand the connections between local, regional, national and international history.
Our history teaching will:
